The New Digital PCTV

In 1998, I returned to Pittsburgh after
graduating from Temple University.
The goal that I set for myself was to
begin a career in television. For as
long as I can remember, TV has been
an interest of mine. As a child, my
punishment was to take television away…
not that I ever needed to be punished.
But if I were, the way to get me to behave
was to tell me "No TV." So it was no
surprise that I chose this as my field.

In August 1999, I started my professional
career with PCTV. I was hired at the entry
level position of production assistant. I didn't really know what to expect when I began working here. I was aware of the channel, but I didn't really have a clear understanding of public access. Coming aboard was definitely a learning experience for me. I'd never had an opportunity to work with such a diverse group of people. There were so many different personalities. I'd previously spent six years in the military, so I'd really thought I had seen it all. Was I wrong! Public Access TV opened up a whole new world.

Since entering this world I have had the opportunity to work a number of different positions and learn many aspects of television production. Instructing workshops has given me the opportunity to share this knowledge with each community producer that enters the facility. Most recently, I was promoted to the position of Special Projects Director. My responsibilities include producing PCTV in-house and field productions. These productions include programs created by PCTV, PSA's, Promotional videos, and contracted productions. I am also responsible for maintaining this lovely website you are currently viewing (Segue: 2003, 2005, and 2006 Hometown Video Festival Award Winner - Best Access Station Website and Honorable Mention 2002 and 2008).
